Workshop: TIGHT, WEAK OR WIRED?
Rethinking the psoas, hip flexors and the hidden strategies behind movement
Saturday 26 September · 11:00–12:30 CET
We all know that familiar feeling: the front of the hips gripping, the hip flexors working hard, the roll-up becoming a battle.
But what if that familiar sensation is only the beginning of the story?
This workshop invites you to look beyond the creases of the hips and explore the psoas and hip flexors as part of a much bigger system.
Rather than simply asking, “How do I stretch my hip flexors?”, we'll explore what might be happening around them — and why.
What we'll explore
Through movement, breath, anatomy and practical experimentation, we'll investigate the relationships between the:
hips · pelvis · spine · diaphragm · breath · nervous system
We'll explore questions such as:
Why can hip flexors feel tight even when the issue isn't simply lack of flexibility?
Why do some people feel their hip flexors so strongly during movements like the roll-up?
When might a muscle be working too hard — and when might it actually be weak?
What role does the psoas play beyond its familiar label as a “hip flexor”?
How can breathing and stability change the way movement feels?
What happens when we stop treating the hip flexors in isolation and start looking at the bigger picture?
This is not a lecture
You'll be moving throughout the workshop.
We'll use simple, accessible experiments to help you feel and observe the concepts rather than just hear about them.
You don't need to know anatomy. You don't need to be especially flexible. And you don't need to be “good” at Pilates.
Just come with curiosity and a willingness to explore.
You may leave with
A new understanding of why you experience tension around your hips.
A different perspective on movements you thought you already knew.
And perhaps a few moments of “Oh… that's what's happening.”
Because sometimes the most useful thing we can do with a familiar sensation is become curious about what lies beyond it.
WHEN
Saturday 26 September
11:00–12:30 CET
PRICE
€55
Early Bird €45 until 6 September

Come and start the new season from the inside out!
